BROOKVILLE Supplied Four Locomotives to the East Side Access Tunneling Project

120 feet below the streets of Queens, four BROOKVILLE locomotives are supporting the East Side Access project that will build upon the subway infrastructure, connecting Manhattan and Queens. This joint venture between Granite Construction, Traylor Brothers, and Frontier Kemper (GTF) recently completed three of the four tunnels as part of the project to give Long Island Rail Road commuters in Queens a more direct access to the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. The project is due to wrap up this summer.

On an average weekday, 735 daily trains are carrying about 265,000 passengers across 700 miles of track, on 11 different branches, stretching from Montauk –on the eastern tip of Long Island- to Penn Station in Manhattan, and the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. When the East Side Access project is completed it is estimated to serve 160,000 customers each day.
