BROOKVILLE-POWERED STREETCARS DELIVERING FOOTBALL FANS TO THE DOORSTEP OF THE SUPER BOWL

02/01/13

BROOKVILLE, Pa., February 1, 2013 – This weekend, as multitudes of football fans, media members and tourists flock to New Orleans for the festivities surrounding Super Bowl XLVII, many will utilize the new Loyola Avenue streetcar extension, which opened earlier this week, running streetcars originally built in a joint project between the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (NORTA) and BROOKVILLE.

The new extension will improve accessibility via NORTA’s historic Red Lady streetcars – many of which were damaged by the impact of Hurricane Katrina, but later restored through a second joint effort between NORTA and BROOKVILLE.

In 2008 and 2009, BROOKVILLE employees worked at the NORTA production facility to install new electrical cabinets, propulsion systems, trucks and operator systems on 31 of the red streetcars – supplying more innovative power components without sacrificing the aesthetic appearance.

Other BROOKVILLE streetcar and trolley projects include restorations, remanufactures, and modernizations for the San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority (SFMTA or Muni) and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).
